| We spend a lot of time thinking about how to speak toward the growing mobile workforce. When we talk about people "working from the road," we tend to envision Hondas outfitted with hands-free devices and laptops tossed in the passenger seat. But one group trailblazed the "mobile office" long before Blackberrys and Bluetooth, and that's truckers.
Perhaps the epitome of working on the road, today's truckers have evolved far from their stereotypical images to be high-tech, plugged-in mavens of the mobile workforce. Many have outfitted their cabs to be mini-homes, complete with mini-offices. Don't be surprised next time you glance inside a semi to see a computer, printer, and wireless internet. This helps truckers schedule and report their loads, as make their downtime less isolating.
